I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday this past weekend. Richard and I sure did! Richard’s mom, Lucy, came to visit for the weekend and we went to my grandmother’s house on Saturday to celebrate Easter with my mother, sisters and grandmother. Because I’m a huge dork and a fan of arts and crafts, I brought along two dozen hard-boiled eggs for us to dye together. Dying eggs, to me, is the perfect Easter activity. Probably because I’ve always been good at it. You know how they never come out looking like what you expected or you accidentally dye an egg an awful shade of brown? Well, that never happens to me. This is because I’m patient, have a good eye for color, and never try anything crazy with the dye (like using those weird wax crayons to write stuff on your eggs – not a good idea unless you like abstract art). As a result, I end up with bright classic-looking eggs in an assortment of pretty color combinations. Richard is also an intense crafter. He took his eggs to another level of complexity with some pipe cleaners, stickers, straws and hot glue. I have a feeling Baby Kopp is going to excel at dying eggs, just like his parents. At least I hope so. I don’t know what I’ll do if I have to display ugly Easter eggs just because my child made them. I only encourage creativity if the results look good and there is no mess involved, so my offspring better make neat, attractive craft projects for the holidays.
Anyway, here’s a look at our 2012 Easter eggs for you to admire.
The egg skills run in my family – my sister Emily created this masterpiece in honor of Baby Kopp (it’s the nursery colors).
