Only 5 weeks until Baby Kopp’s due date! I sure do hope they go by slowly, because we have so much left to do yet.
I did finally start reading my breastfeeding and infant care books. And I’m close to finishing What to Expect When You’re Expecting – thank goodness! Richard and I also finished the last of our baby classes this week. Our last class was about breastfeeding, which is much more complex than I ever thought. Here are some quick highlights from the class:
- A hormone that everyone has, including men, causes the production of breast milk. Therefore, even men can make breast milk if there’s enough nipple stimulation. Richard found this information fascinating – I’m surprised he didn’t get out my breast pump as soon as we got home and start stimulating his nipples. But all I could think about for the rest of our class was Meet the Parents and “I have nipples, Greg. Could you milk me?” Apparently, the answer is yes.
- We were given a baby doll in this class as well. Richard selected a very cute blue-eyed boy, which he held tenderly throughout class. Of course, our teacher, Betsy, had to remark about Richard in front of the entire class, complimenting him on how natural he looked holding a baby. Richard smiled serenely, looking like an angelic father, loving his moment as the star pupil. I tried not to roll my eyes.
- Nipples have more than one hole. In fact, they have 12-16 holes. Who knew?
Throughout all of our classes, I’ve noticed a recurring theme – poop is always discussed. Apparently, we’ll be spending a lot of time analyzing, as well as cleaning up, our baby’s bowel movements in the near future. Luckily, I feel as if we’ve had some extra preparation in the past couple of weeks with our dogs. First, Lady broke her tail, which not only made her look even sadder, but it also meant she had to go to the bathroom without lifting her tail. A pain in the ass for Lady (literally), as well as for us. There was just no way Lady could avoid getting pee and poop on her tail every time she went. And then, as Lady’s tail started to get better, Walter suddenly got diarrhea. Being a very fluffy and furry dog, diarrhea is an extremely messy situation for Walter. All I can say is I’m glad that Baby Kopp won’t have fur around his butthole. Bring on the dirty diapers!
Anyway, let’s move on to the actual point of this blog posting.
We’re continuing to put the final touches on Its nursery. So, inspired by a similar Spiderman print that I found online, I created the following artwork for Baby Kopp’s room. It’s simple, but the perfect Superman touch for our neutral nursery. Let me know what you think!
And the female version…
And the finished framed print, ready to be hung…
Since this baby will be the child of the number 1 fan of Superman, it’s perfect!
Absolutely perfect for our little Super Baby! And he/she will likely have Super Duper Poop, too! 🙂
[…] put some framed pictures on top of the cubby shelf, including the Superman print that I designed. The other print is from Etsy and it’s a quote from “Your Song” […]
