Merry Christmas and Happy 5-Month Birthday to Baby O!
It really is the most wonderful time of the year. Five month olds are actually fun. It’s the age when babies finally do more than eat, cry, sleep and poop. Owen can pick things up on his own and entertain himself with his hands and his toys. Who knew fingers and feet could be so fascinating? Or that they could be so chewy and delicious?
During the past month, Owen has been enjoying a lot of holiday activities…Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parades, tree lightings, holiday hayrides, visiting Santa, and, of course, Christmas shopping with Mom. One of the pros of having an infant is that you can shop for and wrap their gifts right in front of them, no hiding necessary, since they have no idea what’s going on.
Owen tried his first “solid” foods this month – rice cereal mixed with milk. It looked about as appetizing as curdled milk, but Owen didn’t seem to care. Judging from his first experience with food and the size of his belly, I get the feeling he’s not going to be a picky eater.
The little guy is more mobile than ever. His dad can’t wait until he can walk and run around. His mom is dreading it.
Owen is constantly in motion. The way his arms and legs seem to uncontrollably flap sometimes makes me think he may have Tourette’s. He figured out how to scoot and push himself around on his back. He makes some very disturbing noises while doing this. And to my dismay, he discovered how to splash, making bath time a wet and messy chore. Baby O can pretty much sit on his own now; he just topples over when he moves around too quickly. I’m sure he’ll get the balancing part down in the next month.
I hope your holiday season is as merry and bright as our happy little boy. Here’s our gift to you…Owen’s five-month-old photos:
Here are Owen’s December-themed photos for his 5-month birthday. We tried to capture the spirit of the season – it’s not hard when you have the best gift ever.
And some extra holiday cheer…the bloopers!
It’s kind of creepy how Owen and the bear have identical expressions on their faces.
Hmmm…wrapping paper tastes good.
Where did these lights come from?
Look at that leg! Rolls…
…and rolls…
…and more rolls. Makes me think of The Night Before Christmas: “He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.” 🙂
