Wow – Baby O is six months old!
So much has happened in the past month. He made it through his first holiday season into the New Year. His very first cousin was born, little Baby Brooklyn. He has mastered sitting by himself and he can push himself up into crawling position on his hands and knees. So far, he can only scoot and slide backwards but I’m sure he’ll be moving forward soon.
Owen has two teeth now. And he loves to use them, chewing and biting anything that comes close to his mouth. This is unfortunate for me, since I’m still breastfeeding. Teeth and nipples do not mix. Even more unfortunate for me, Owen is amused by his new biting power. He laughs impishly every time he uses me as a chew toy.
He laughs at a lot these days. Throwing things and watching them fall to the floor makes him giggle hysterically. And as my dad so eloquently observed: “He’s all boy – he farts and he laughs.”
I love Owen at this age. Not that I didn’t love him before. He’s just so much more fun now. I can easily distract him from a cranky fit with toys and funny faces. He actually plays and explores, entertaining himself in his jumperoo or rolling around in his activity gym while “talking” to himself. Best of all, he cuddles! He doesn’t just fall asleep on me; he snuggles his head against my shoulder and melts my heart.
Here are Owen’s January-themed photos for his 6-month birthday. Richard suggested painting his face brown for a Martin Luther King Jr. theme. I vetoed that idea and put together something less offensive:
And here are the behind-the-scenes bloopers!
It was hard to catch a moment without something in his mouth.
He just keeps getting cuter!
