The little man is getting big – seven months old! And the more he grows, the more I love him.
Owen is a ball of energy. His limbs are constantly in motion when he’s awake. And he’s awake most of the time. Sleep is something that Owen doesn’t need a lot of. Sometimes I love that he’s so lively and entertaining. Sometimes I wish I had one of those babies that sleeps 18 hours a day (okay, maybe more than sometimes).
Unrelated to Baby O, this past month had some difficult moments. Moments when I cried hard and held Owen tight, looking for comfort from my sweet little bambino.
He laughed.
Yes, that’s right. Tears make Owen chuckle hysterically. Hopefully, this isn’t a sign that a few years from now I’m going to discover him mutilating small animals in the backyard for fun.
Several weeks ago, I went back to work part-time. Mostly, it feels great to be working again and wearing nice clothes a couple days a week. But, of course, I miss my nugget. Leaving him that first day was extremely hard. I cried as I kissed him goodbye. Owen smirked and giggled. So much for separation anxiety. Either A) Owen has a Stewie-like hatred for his mother or B) I’ve raised him to be exceptionally secure and well-adjusted. I’m going to choose to believe the latter.
Owen is becoming quite the doodlebug. How quickly he can scoot backwards across the room is surprising and amusing. I’m beginning to suspect that Owen will never be a traditional crawler. I think he’s going to go straight from doodlebugging to walking. He’s getting stronger every day. He-Man picks toys larger than him off the ground and slams them back down for fun. He bites hard and pulls hair even harder. And it’s about that time for us to lower his crib mattress – he can now stand up holding onto the coffee table edge.
Take a look at his monthly snapshots:
And here are Owen’s February-themed photos for his 7-month birthday. Once again, Richard suggested painting his face brown for Black History Month. And once again, I ignored him and took the more politically correct route, theming his photos for the most obvious February holiday – Valentine’s Day.
Owen’s face gets more and more expressive, so this was a GREAT month for bloopers:
Sticking his tongue out at his dad…
His true Stewie colors coming through…should I be worried?
SHOCKED (Richard probably said something inappropriate).
Quizzical (Richard must have said something inappropriate AGAIN).
Owen really likes making expressions like this lately, which for some reason, remind me of Honey Boo Boo:
Seeing him always brightens my day! No one can make me laugh like Owen. Sure do love him!
Cute series of photos. I’d suggest tossing the bear and getting him a rabbit.
