Since Owen loves everything canis lupus, a wolf theme birthday party needed to happen to celebrate his 9th birthday back in July. At first, I felt a little stumped planning his party. I wasn’t sure how to make the wolf theme creative. But once I decided to use grays, black, and neon yellow for the colors and added stars and moons to the theme, it all came together.
It ended up being one of the simplest parties ever to plan (unlike the messy party the year before), and Owen loved every minute of the wolf theme. He definitely had a howling good time, because he was literally howling during his party. (The wolf obsession is real and deep, haha.)
Owen’s wolf toy figures served as the main decorations, scattered on the tabletop and used as the cake topper. I found a giant chalkboard on FB marketplace to use as the party backdrop, one that was almost too big to fit in a minivan and took two trips to get to our house. Once we got the enormously heavy chalkboard in place for the party, I had to sketch faster than I’ve ever sketched before because the mosquitoes were extremely hungry on Owen’s birthday. But it ended up working great and made my vision for his party come to life, so totally worth it!
I ordered wooden moon shapes that I used for place settings and a cake topper along with the wolf figures. Black and white marble napkins and balloons fit the wolf theme perfectly. On a black paper table runner, I drew stars with neon yellow chalk. I found the cutest star drink stir sticks, a little detail that worked so well with the theme.
For the favors, we gave out wolf figures, wolf masks, and moon stickers. Owen came up with the idea to write “pack power” on the favor bags. The wolf masks really got him into full wolf-mode during the party!
