Well I’ve finally started a blog, which I’ve been meaning to do for months (maybe longer). I hope to share a variety of things with you through this blog – funny life stories, easy recipes, home decorating tips, book suggestions, entertaining ideas, and maybe a craft and art project once and while. Plus I’m a soon-to-be first-time mother, so I’ll share my insight as a rookie mom (should be interesting). But I don’t want to waste my first posting talking about me…that’s what the About page is for. Instead I’d like to introduce you to the Cast of Characters, so that you know who I’m talking about in future postings. These are the people that make up my life:
Richard – Love of my life, understanding husband. Also known as Ricky and occasionally Dick (depending on my mood). Enjoys playing volleyball, works extremely hard, eats anything, and makes me laugh. He’s also obsessed with our two dogs, going as far as to exhibit pride and giddy happiness while watching them take a number two in our backyard.
Baby Kopp – Future spawn due on July 12th. Sex unknown so don’t be offended if I refer to it as “it.”
Walter – Scruffy three-year-old doggie. Best thing that ever happened to me. Just kidding. Okay maybe not…I admit that, like Richard, I’m a bit obsessed. He’s just so darn cute! Also known as Nugget, Baby Nuggs, Snuggs, Scruffles, and pretty much any other random thing that comes into my head.
Lady – Sleepy senior citizen beagle. Spends most of her time napping, but always wakes up for dinner time. Lady is adorable in that I-always-look-sad kind of way. In fact, her character bears a remarkable resemblance to Eeyore, which is why I sometimes refer to her as Donkey.
J Diddy – Strange yet lovable father. Former chemist now retired, farmer, environmentalist, and cat lover. Also knows as simply “J.” J is a constant source of help and advice for me and Richard, but he’s also a nut.
Lan – Tireless mother. Soon-to-be-retired math teacher and future caregiver for Baby Kopp (only daycare that I can afford). Lan (short for Lana) is always on the go. Me, my sisters and Lan are best friends (we also make a lot of noise when we’re together in the same room, hence why J suffers from selective hearing loss).
Emily – Older sister, best friend. First grade teacher. Getting married in August to Sean Higgins. Hopefully will name their future child Henry Higgins (I love “My Fair Lady”).
Roberta – Younger sister, best friend. High school English teacher working towards becoming a school librarian. Obviously she’s a fellow book lover and the first person I call to discuss a good read. Emily, on the other hand, just progressed to chapter books…haha, just teasing, Emily!
Well, that’s everyone for now. I’ll introduce you to more folks in future postings. But at least you know the key players as I begin this blogging journey (as long as you know who Walter is, you’re good). Happy Monday! Don’t forget the Bachelor is on tonight, just in case, like me, you’re into cynically making fun of desperate girls and guys making fools of themselves on national television in pursuit of fake love that won’t last more than a week or two. My kind of entertainment!
