Yet another month has gone by and Little O keeps on growing. It won’t be long before I’m calling him Big O.
The bigger Owen gets, the more entertaining he is. Every day he surprises us with something new he’s learned, like finally figuring out where his head and nose are. Almost everyone that meets Owen says the same thing: “He’s busy!” And they couldn’t be more right. Owen is the busiest toddler that I’ve ever encountered. I’m hoping that he’ll burn out by the time he’s reached school age, or else I feel bad for his future teachers.
As you would expect for a boy, Owen plays hard. He’s become a climber, so our house is once again not baby proofed. He pushes our kitchen table chairs around the house. Our furniture has basically become his personal playground.
He’s also discovered the joys of hide-and-seek. He loves to go behind furniture and sit there quietly; then he laughs hysterically when I peek around and catch him there. He likes hiding items too…his sippy cup, his pacifiers, his toys. I feel like I’m constantly searching for things that have gone missing, thanks to my little squirrel.
Besides when he’s hiding, there’s one other time when Owen is quiet. When he’s pooping.
Yep, he quietly goes into a corner or behind something to do the deed, silent while he concentrates and squeezes. Apparently, the need for privacy while taking a crap starts at a young age.
Owen’s vocabulary continues to expand. His new favorite word this month is “cat.” Every time he sees one, even the smallest kitten in a magazine ad, he exclaims “cat” over and over again. Rabbits and squirrels are also “cats.”
He LOVES the We Buy Any Car commercial (god help me). It may be the most annoying commercial jingle ever, but Owen immediately stops what he’s doing when he hears it and cuts loose, jumping and dancing.
A major milestone happened this month. I spent my first night away from Owen. Every moment while I was away, I wondered what Owen was doing (out loud, much to Richard’s dismay). But, according to his Nana who watched him in my absence, my son did not notice that I was gone. Looks like I’m more invested in this relationship than Owen. Typical guy.
Now let’s get to the monthly photos!
Owen’s favorite thing this month was hard to depict in pictures, since it’s not an object. It’s something he does – barking! He’s obsessed with barking. He picked it up from our neighbor’s dogs and he’s pretty much been barking nonstop since then. When he sees a dog, he barks. When he hears a dog, he barks. And sometimes, he just barks for no reason at all. Since it inspires more barking, Owen loves looking at his puppy book. He shouts “woof, woof” as he turns the pages and points at the puppies; sometimes he even gives the puppies kisses. It’s really quite sweet. 🙂 So here’s Owen in his 15-month photos with his puppy book:
Of course, Owen was also busy this month checking things off his “to do” list. He finally got his first haircut! Here he is, getting groomed and looking extra handsome after his cut.
While visiting his Grammie, Grandpa and other relatives in western PA, he tried his very first St. Marys sausage (a staple in Richard’s hometown).
Owen also visited his very first pumpkin patch, where he took a hayride and picked out a pumpkin to take home. The pumpkin vines kept tripping him, but that didn’t stop Owen from running all over the fields and farm market.
I am laughing so hard right now. You’re hilarious and Owen is so cute.
Love all the pictures, especially the one where he’s laughing. The ones in the Pumpkin Patch are too cute. He looks so cute with the little pumpkin! Can’t wait to see him!
