On Friday, Richard and I celebrated our five year anniversary. It went by fast, yet it honestly feels like we’ve been married forever – and I mean that in a good way! It’s hard to remember what life was like before we were married. I do know these past five years have been the best years of my life so far (thank you, Richard!).
I don’t often look at our wedding photos, but since this is our five year anniversary I decided to reminisce and share part of our special day here on my blog. I hope you enjoy looking back with me!
Every married person says this, but our wedding day really was perfect. The timing was spot-on (due to Richard’s meticulously detailed timeline), the decorations were beautiful, and everything went smoothly. Most importantly, it was so much fun. Richard and I focused on two things while planning our wedding – making sure there was good food (and drinks) and plenty of time to dance. We skipped a lot of the typical traditions, like toasts and throwing the bouquet, so we could maximize our time on the dance floor.
Five years ago, before Pinterest existed, it wasn’t so popular to have a small unique DIY wedding. But that’s exactly what our wedding was, complete with mason jars and globe string lights. I like to think I started a trend. The inspiration for our wedding was the quaint setting at The Restaurant School, where we met and worked together. I don’t really know why, but our theme was strawberry pink and peach…flavors for our drinks, fruit decorations on the tables, jars of jam for favors, and pink and peach colored flowers. I even made drawings of a strawberry and peach that we used on our menus, favor labels, and other printed materials.
But enough recapping…you can see it all in these photos (taken by our wedding photographer Ben Reeder and my cousin Sara):
And my absolute favorite photo of Richard on the dance floor (the photographer appropriately named this photo “intensity”):
It sure was an awesome wedding! I too had a great time! Everything was perfect.
I wish you many more years together. Love, Lucy
