Summer is the time for frozen treats! Here’s the scoop for making an ice cream cone fan craft that’s super easy and super cute.
Plus, this cool cone can keep your child cool during the hot days outside. It’s also a great craft to make for ice cream-themed summer parties — hand them out to guests to use to fan themselves during warm outdoor activities. Or use them as decorations. Make a bunch in coordinating colors and string them together to make an ice cream cone garland or banner.
You’ll need the following supplies to make one fan:
- 2 sheets of colored paper (pastel colors work well, like pink or mint)
- 1 sheet of white card stock
- Brown paint
- Paint brush
- Fork utensil
- Scissors
- 1 red pompom
- Tape
- Glue
STEP 1
Start by painting the white sheet of card stock with the brown paint. While the paint is wet, use the fork to make diagonal lines across the paper, going in both directions to create a grid like an ice cream cone pattern. Let the paint dry.
STEP 2
Fold the two sheets of colored paper accordion-style, folding along the short edge of the paper.
STEP 3
Fold the accordion-folded sheets in half. Pull apart the folds to create a half-circle fan and tape the edges to hold in place.
STEP 4
Tape both of the paper “fans” together to create a circle.
STEP 5
At the top center of the paper fan circle, glue the red pompom to make a cherry.
STEP 6
After the brown paint has dried, cut out a cone-shaped triangle.
STEP 7
To finish the craft, glue the fan circle “ice cream scoop” to the brown painted cone.
