Raised in a home without a dishwasher, I’ve found that some shortcuts in life are worth it. And eating ice cream off paper plates is one of them. Straight out of the container works too. Thus the inspiration for my blog’s name!
I’m a not-so-average gal from South Jersey named Louisa Kopp (formerly known as Louisa Sassi). Honestly, I’m a bit of an oddball and more geek than cool.
I’m an old-fashioned gal. My hobbies are a bit Martha Stewart-esque. I enjoy cooking and baking despite having a tiny kitchen. I’m a fashionista (although a very frugal one) who favors wearing feminine dresses. I believe families should eat dinner together every night. I still struggle with texting and am continuously confused by my smartphone. I can get lost in a book for hours and hours (no Kindles for me – I’m a library loyalist). I love homemaking, art, and being creative (yes, I’m one of those people who actually enjoys making handmade thoughtful gifts and elaborately wrapping them). Nothing thrills me more than being a gracious hostess and throwing parties that my guests will be talking about for months. I dream of having an old Victorian home with a wrap-around porch where I’ll serve my guests homemade cookies and fresh lemonade and I’ll pick herbs and flowers from my very own beautiful garden.
I’m a modern gal. I curse more than a lot, and often exhibit road rage and a roller coaster of emotions. I’m very opinionated. I like to travel, explore and try new things. I believe that one glass of wine is not enough. I can’t wait for a woman to be President one day. I enjoy ordering take-out food and shopping online. And I write a blog (that’s pretty modern, right?).
I’m a people-pleasing gal. Therefore, I hope my musings make you smile every now and then. Thanks for reading! Now go and eat some (or a lot) of your favorite ice cream without a bowl (but please use a spoon).
About My Blog
I started my blog Ice Cream Off Paper Plates in 2012 to chronicle my journey into parenthood. Ice Cream Off Paper Plates includes humorous and honest stories about parenting, easy recipes with step-by-step photos, and party and entertaining ideas. I share simple recipes and inexpensive DIY party and craft ideas that anyone can do. But the stars of my blog are my exuberant 3-year-old son and sweet 1-year-old daughter, who always provide plenty of material for postings. Check out some of my most popular posts here.
Ice Cream Off Paper Plates has been featured on many popular websites including Pregnant Chicken, Mamalode, Hostess with the Mostess, Kara’s Party Ideas, Catch My Party, Project Nursery, and Taste Spotting. And I’m a regular contributing writer for South Jersey MOM magazine.
