My sister is having a boy!! Last Sunday, Roberta and Bobby hosted a book-themed gender reveal brunch and finally shared the news with family and friends. I’m so excited to have my first nephew and another little boy in the family.
Roberta is a school librarian and book lover (you might remember her very popular Literary Love wedding shower). So, of course, the future mama threw a book-tastic gender reveal. Rather than sticking to blue and pink, she carried out the theme in shades of bright, cheerful yellow. I was happy to help her brainstorm ideas for the brunch reveal. My sister is so talented and creative and when our minds work together, it’s magic! Her vision came to life beautifully and it was a perfect celebration for her future little bookworm. And now that I know her little bundle will be a boy, I can’t wait to plan the baby shower!
Take a look at Baby Barber’s gender reveal:
Boy or girl? Everyone voted by taking a bookmark designed with their name, putting it in a children’s book, and then placing the book on the “B” or “G” shelf. After each person voted, we had an even split – 7 books for girl and 7 books for boy.
My talented sister and I created adorable books to reveal her baby’s gender. Roberta wrote the clever and sweet text and I made the hand-drawn illustrations – a true labor of love for Baby Barber!
Roberta took the text and illustrations and designed and ordered a book with Shutterfly. We also made mini versions of the book from 5×5 blank board books so family and friends could read along during the reveal. They were also wonderful keepsake favors.
Roberta tied up the books with yellow ribbon and attached an adorable poem that she wrote, which she also displayed next to the basket of books:
Now for the big book reveal! Richard provided a dramatic reading of the little personalized storybook that my sister and I created.
Read along for the reveal…here’s a page-by-page look at the little book with the big news:
Our little ones had so much fun celebrating their future cousin. Owen, Carmendy, and Clementine will love making memories and having adventures with Baby Boy Barber!
