December is flying by, isn’t it? I can’t believe it’s already been over a week since we kicked off December with a North Pole Breakfast celebration for the little ones.
If you’re not familiar with a North Pole Breakfast, it’s a breakfast to introduce the Elf on the Shelf for the season. We decided to make this a family tradition; my sisters and I will have a North Pole Breakfast together every year for our children.
I admit that it’s probably a bit corny. And a lot of work for such a small gathering of kids who don’t eat anyway. But I’m a big fan of corny and overdoing it. Plus, it was all worth it when Owen exclaimed “The elf is coming for breakfast!!” as soon as he woke up that morning.
I know that I can go a bit crazy with party decorations. Add my sisters into the equation and you have one very crafty and cute breakfast with my family! Here’s what we came up with for the big morning with the little elf:
Here’s the invitation that started it all. A few days before the breakfast, we trailed mini marshmallows from Owen’s bedroom to the fireplace, where he found his invitation for the breakfast. He was so excited!

We set the table with cute holiday plates and little glass milk bottles with mini scarves. We found fun green and red polka dot napkins and put the utensils in tiny stockings.
Then will filled the rest of the table with cute wood signs, stacked cake stands, candy canes, and a small Christmas tree.
We glued peppermint candies to ribbon and strung them around the little Christmas tree and hung them from the light and around our chalkboard sign.
We hung stockings from the backs of the chairs with ribbon. And we hung a Merry Christmas banner that matched our decoration colors perfectly. We even found giant paper rosettes to hang above the open doorway.
We had little gifts for the kids: a puzzle for Owen, first Christmas rattles for the baby girls, the Elf on the Shelf movie, and tree ornaments for each of them. We also set out their Christmas pajamas on each of their chairs. We plan to give them ornaments and their holiday pajamas every year at the annual breakfast.
Each of the kids also received a letter from our elf Tiny. I came up with the rhyming letter all by myself!
The menu included slow cooker apple french toast, red and green pepper egg muffins, reindeer and North Pole donuts, North Pole cupcake muffins, white chocolate muddy buddies, and a candy cane fruit tray with marshmallow cream cheese dip.
During the breakfast, we completed a letter to Santa with their wish list for each child. We’ll use the same template each year and keep them so we can remember what they asked for when they were little.
Tiny, our elf, was there for the festivities.
Oh, and of course, I made Richard wear a costume. It’s not a holiday function without some kind of costume.
I love new traditions! Especially if it means Richard has to wear tights. Already looking forward to next year!
