The decorating idea for this cake came to me in the aisles of Target. Seriously. I saw the limited edition red, white and blue Twizzlers in the candy/holiday section of Target and inspiration struck. I grabbed a bag for $2.00 and headed home with the genius idea for my 4th of July confetti cake in my mind.

Along with the Twizzlers, here’s everything you’ll need:

Step 1

First, cut out one star from each color of paper – a red star, a blue star and a white star. They don’t need to be perfect. I drew my stars freehand and cut them out and they look adorbs.

Step 2

Next, glue a paper star to the top of each of the three skewers. Set aside to dry.

Step 3

Take a few of the Twizzlers Pull ‘N’ Peel candy and peel apart the individual strings. Then, using a scissors, cut the candy strings into pieces about an inch long.

Step 4

Sprinkle the candy string pieces over the top and sides of the frosted prepared cake like confetti. The Twizzlers candy is a little sticky, so the pieces should stick to the cake pretty easily. If not, gently push them into the frosting to hold in place.
