Winter White Citrus Mint Sangria

I can’t believe it’s nearly 2017! Time to mix up this delicious citrus mint sangria to ring in the New Year.

Mostly my drink preparation is limited to unscrewing a bottle of wine and pouring it into a glass (and usually I just tell my husband to do this for me). So this is my first ever alcohol recipe! And I made sure it was easy and delicious.

Now, I don’t want to promote alcohol consumption, but I don’t think there’s ever been a more appropriate time to drink then after this very long and surreal year. I have a feeling this recipe may come in handy for many of us in the twelve months ahead.

Let’s get to drinking! Here’s what you’ll need:

1.5 L bottle of white wine (preferably a crisp, citrus white such as Sauvignon Blanc)
16 ounce bottle of seltzer or club soda
1/2 cup triple sec
4 oranges
3/4 cup mint leaves
1/3 cup powdered sugar

Okay, you may be thinking, how is a citrus drink a winter drink? Isn’t that kind of summery?

Well, oranges are actually seasonal during the winter months. It’s the perfect time to enjoy citrus.

To mix up this drink, start by thinly slicing four oranges. Place them in a bowl, and add the powdered sugar, mint leaves, and triple sec. Stir the orange slices.

Pour in the wine. Then set aside the sangria for about an hour or so. Before serving, add the seltzer or club soda (make sure it’s chilled). This recipe makes about 12 servings.

If you’d like a non-alcoholic version of this sangria, here you go:

Just kidding. I got nothing for you, except maybe a glass of orange juice mixed with club soda?

Now, excuse me while I sip my way into 2017. Cheers, friends!
