A baby doll birthday party is the perfect celebration for little ones that love their toy dolls. Plus it’s a super easy theme to pull off! Winnie is obsessed with her dolls – she plays with them all day long. So I knew she had to have a baby doll party when she turned three.
It’s been six months since her birthday, which somehow feels like it was just yesterday but also ten years ago. The past month alone has felt like an eternity, thanks to the pandemic. The quarantine feels like the twilight zone with no end in sight, and it’s also caused a lot of cancelled parties. As you might imagine, my blog and Etsy shop for party invitations and ideas have taken quite a hit. Traffic is down. Sales are down. The good news is that I have a little more time for blog writing since I hardly have any Etsy orders. Which is why I’m finally sharing Winnie’s birthday party!
I also figured this is a great time to share her party theme. A baby doll party is ideal for a quarantine, as weird as that sounds. You don’t need guests – the dolls will be the guests! You don’t need to buy decorations – use your doll bottles, books and toys! What could be better for a little girl’s celebration when we’re all stuck at home?
So check out all the details from Winnie’s doll baby birthday below…
Dolly and Me: Baby Doll Party Theme!
I wanted to have some sort of pattern or motif to pull together her whole party look. Inspired by doll toy packaging, which almost always has hearts and shades of pink, I created a heart design. I used it for the placemats, favor tags, signs, etc. And I found heart-shaped napkins that coordinated perfectly. Since I’m all about the details, I also ordered heart drink stirrers for the cups. For the paper straws, I made little paper flags that said “she’s a doll.”
If you know me, you know I like corny phrases and puns. So I made a party sign that said “Oh baby! Winnie is 3” and favor tags that said “Thanks for being a doll and coming to my party!”
Baby shower decorations and party supplies are great for a baby doll birthday! I found baby shower plastic pacifier decorations that I placed at each plate setting. And pacifier lollipops were just right for the favor bags.
Cheap baby bottles were another easy decoration. For each favor, we filled a bottle with candy and a little tiny toy baby doll. We also used them to decorate the table, along with toy doll bottles from Winnie’s doll accessory collection.
As I mentioned before, toy items we already had were a big part of the party decor. Alphabet blocks, books with a doll or a baby theme, doll bottles, doll high chairs and cribs were easy to gather up and use for the party.
Oh Baby! It’s time for treats
Of course, every party needs treats. Since our Winnie has a gluten-free diet, I made gluten-free heart cookies that I decorated with icing in the same colors as the heart design I created for the party. A simple pink birthday cake with a bright pink “happy birthday” candle was the perfect centerpiece on the party table – Winnie loved her cake!
As soon as Winnie said she wanted to have baby doll birthday party, I knew her dolls would have to dress for the occasion. So I made paper hats with pompom tops for each doll. And I think every party needs balloons, so I forced Richard to make an amazing balloon garland in shades of pink. I decorated the doll cribs and high chairs with it, and it made the perfect party atmosphere for Winnie’s birthday.
She’s a doll! Happy Birthday, Winnie!
I love how this party turned out for our Winnie girl. This theme was so, so right for her – it reminded me of Owen’s dinosaur birthday party, just because both parties so perfectly captured their absolute favorite thing.
I took a zillion photos for Winnie’s birthday and I couldn’t narrow down my choices to share in this blog post. Winnie looks so cute in so many photos – it’s impossible to pick! So here are a bunch more pics from her special day.
Are the heart placemats or birthday sign in the photo frame available for print?
Great visuals. Looks like she had a lot of fun!
