Snow-themed decorations for a winter birthday party are SNOW cute! My dear friend asked me to make decorations for her son Ezra’s first birthday party and I loved helping create his winter ONEderland. The decorations for the snowy celebration included snowmen and cone trees for centerpieces, snowflake banners, DIY snow globes, snowflake cupcake toppers, and a chalkboard first year photo display. Take a look at Ezra’s winter wonderland first birthday party:
I loved how the snowmen centerpieces turned out, and they were so simple to make! I just attached three Styrofoam balls together and sliced part of the bottom off (allowing it to stand). Then I made scarves from blue felt and wrapped them around the snowmen’s necks. I found small sticks in my yard for the snowmen’s arms and I glued buttons on the snowmen’s chests. Lastly, I glued a paper number one to the snowmen’s hands.
Cone trees aren’t hard to make either – but I admit decorating them can be pretty time consuming. To make the cones, I simply made large quarter circles from poster board. Then I rolled them into a cone shape and taped them in place. I covered the cones in blue crepe paper streamers, which I ruffled as I glued them on. I also made silver trees with tinsel garland and white trees with cotton balls and white pompoms.
My sister made a DIY mason jar snow globe with Owen right before Christmas, and this craft project inspired me to make snow globes for Ezra’s party. What could be more perfect for a winter wonderland party than snow globes? I glued number one birthday candles to the lids of mason jars. Then I filled the jars with water and a lot of white glitter. After putting the lids tightly back on, they were done – voila!
I used a snowflake hole punch, glitter pompoms and lollipop sticks to make snowy cupcake toppers.
“Ezra is 1” stickers were put on every cup!
I used a Silhouette Cameo to cut out paper snowflakes and circles for banners and wall decorations.
I created a photo display of Ezra’s monthly first year pics with a large chalkboard. I attached the photos with glitter washi tape, wrote “SNOW BIG” with a chalk paint marker, and decorated it with a snowflake banner.
It was a truly ONEderful party for true friends. Happy, HAPPY first birthday, Ezra!
